Dog Powered Sports Association of the Yukon

DPSAY held a skijor and pulk workshop in Janury 21st at Mary Lake Subdivision.  The main purpose of this workshop was to assist skijorers interested in participating in the River Runner race because pulks are mandatory gear.

Gaeten Pierrard and Stefan Wackerhagen demonstrated their pulk designs and also talked about training themselves and the dogs, running schedules, and ski gear.

Gaetan’s pulk was an example of a self-assembled design with runners made by Steve Tufford (Raven’s Edge Sleds) and a pulk bag by Dave Desmarais (Bombproof Outdoor Gear). Cynthia’s is also self-assembled, and she uses a hockey gear bag (not shown).  Stefan had purchased the fully-assembled version, with a carbon-fibre sled and cover attached directly to the side of the sled.
