Carbon Hill Race Day postponed to February 8

Dog Powered Friends,

We have been watching the weather for a while now and this afternoon (Friday January 17) we decided to postpone the Carbon Hill that was planned for this coming Sunday, January 19.

The decision was taken considering that most of the participants are recreational mushers and ski-jorers and this is meant to be a fun race. Below -30 things can go sideways fairly quickly and we do not have the infrastructure and communications in place that the bigger races have. Also, we had to consider the safety (and to some extent comfort) of our trail crew and their equipment.

Since we have made the decision the forecast for Sunday has changed considerably but not so for Saturday when the trail crew would have to be out. In our experience temperatures at Annie Lake Road are usually a few degree lower than at the Whitehorse airport.

Please pencil in Saturday February 8 in for the new Carbon Hill. And we will see you on February 2 at our next Twister Race at Hans and Susie’s place in Golden Horn. Details for that race will follow shortly.

Sorry for the inconvenience
